OVER THE ROAD SKILL ENHANCEMENT TRAINING:
After the Werner Welcome Experience, placement drivers and advanced placement drivers are placed with Timothy for to complete over the road skills evaluation using weekly assessments to evaluate the driver's performance with the "SMITH" System, Defensive Driving, Pre-Trip Inspection, Backing, Speed and Lane Control Management, Gradient Driving, Breakdown, Accident and Emergency Procedures, Trip Planning, HOS, Electronic Logs and Logging, DOT Regulations Compliance, Company Policy and Compliance, Permits, Scaling, Bridge Laws and Weight Distribution, Close Quarter Maneuvering, HAZMAT LOAD COMPLIANCE, Trip Manifest Understanding, Load Pick-up and Delivery, Coupling and Uncoupling Training and Administrative Operations, Driver Health and Wellness Training including Nutritional Guidance.
Timothy completed Baseline Evaluation of new placement and advanced placement driver prior to leaving the terminal. If the placement driver or advance placement driver does not have their Baseline Evaluation with them, he contacted the terminal to receive it before leaving for OTR Training.
OTR DRIVER COVENANT TRANSPORTATION
- Duties and Responsibilities as OTR with Covenant Transportation:
- Perform daily pre-trip inspections
- Pick-up and delivery loads over all lower 48 states
- Manage HOS and Electronic Logging
- Assist with loading and unloading of freight
- Complete all documentation for HAZMAT Loads including special route planning
- Communicate with dispatch, shippers and receivers for accuracy of load pick-up and delivery
- Ensure accuracy on shipping manifest prior to leaving shippers
- Complete all continuing driver educational modules
- Perform inclement weather and gradient driving
